Olds, Mountain View Regional Waste Management Commission
Mountain View County
Rural residents rent approximately 810 bins located throughout the County. These bins are made available for residents of the county to deposit their household solid waste and are picked up on a four (4), eight (8) week, and twelve (12) week cycle by CanPak Environmental on behalf of the Commission.
In addition, agricultural plastics are collected year-round at the Olds Transfer Station and wire is collected year-round at the Didsbury Resource Recovery Centre.
Town of Olds
There are two recycling depots at Olds, open to both Town and County residents that are operated by the Commission and provide collection of recyclables: 5328 - 46 Street (Olds CO-OP parking lot), and 4920 - 49 Ave (across from Crosstown Glass). The Town is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the recycling sites. Additional 3 yard compost bins are placed throughout the town between April 1 and October 31 each year for the collection of organic yard waste.
The Olds Transfer Station is owned by the Commission and operated by CanPak. In addition to residential solid waste, the transfer site also accepts recycling materials and household hazardous waste from within the County boundary. This station is equipped with a horizontal baler and therefore provides the primary storage, baling and shipping operations for the Commission recycling program.
