Olds College

Mountain View County is a proud supporter and partner of Olds College, a post secondary institution in Olds whose School of Innovation conducts research on composting technology (including bio-gas energy), environmental microbiology, livestock genetics and nutrition, natural fibres, and new products from crops and bio-processing.

The County has partnered with the College, and other organizations and insititions, on the following initiaitves, for the benefit of rural and urban central Albertans:

Community Learning Campus (CLC)

An innovative approach to high school, post-secondary, and community education. The CLC addresses specific rural needs by sharing resources and working jointly with a variety of community groups and agencies. The CLC is a joint venture between Olds College and Chinook's Edge School Division (CESD) in collaboration with the Town of Olds, Mountain View County, and the University of Alberta. Integrated with the Olds College campus, the CLC consists of five multi-use facilities complete with integrated programming.

Community Engagement Sites

Service hubs in central Alberta communities where people can access broadband technology, learning applications and support. The Community Engagement Sites will provide not only onsite access to services, technologies and support but will also act as the catalyst for community members - young and old - to learn about the opportunities broadband access can provide, get used to the technology, and begin to develop a "culture of use" in communities throughout the region.
