Mountain View County Council gave first reading to an updated version of the Parks Bylaw during last week’s Regular Council Meeting and requested the proposed version be made available to County residents who may wish to provide input or comments before the bylaw comes back to Council for further consideration.
The Parks Bylaw is being updated to reflect new provincial regulations, including rules regarding public consumption of cannabis with legalization set to take place on October 17, 2018.
Council had the option to proceed to second reading but wanted to provide the public a chance to view and comment on the bylaw before consideration of second and third reading.
Copies of the proposed Parks Bylaw are available on the at this link: Proposed Parks Bylaw 21/18, and are also available at the office during regular hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday.
Comments can be forwarded to Christofer Atchison, Director of Legislative, Community and Agricultural Services via email to email@example.com, in person at the County office during the above noted hours, or via phone at 403-335-3311 ext 114.
With federal and provincial regulations coming into effect on October 17th, the Parks Bylaw is scheduled to come back before Council at the October 10th regular meeting. Comments will be accepted right up until the end of day on October 9th.
