With the return of seasonal weather, Mountain View County is seeing an increase in the amount of overland flooding due to runoff of the high prairie snowpack and ground frost.
This flooding has already resulted in a number of roadways experiencing water running overland due to overflowing ditches and culverts running at capacity.
If you see or come across a County roadway that is experiencing water running over top, or is unseasonably soft, please contact us at 403-335-3311. Once the phone system answers, press '0' and ask to speak to Operational Services to report a road or ditch issue. After hours (later than 4 pm on weekdays, and all day on weekends), you are asked to call 403-586-8800 to report any road issues. Please do not use this number during office hours - 8 am to 4 pm, weekdays.
If you wish to email us, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and include as much information as possible.
While we do update closures and conditions on our Social Media acounts (Facebook, Twitter) and we do try to monitor these accounts as best we can, the best course of action to report road conditions is to contact us directly at the above noted phone number and email.
For private property owners looking for sandbags, please look to source from commercial suppliers:
- Check with local hardware stores, Gas stations or local Aggregate suppliers
We will attempt to update this page and the Road Bans & Closures page as often as possible.
Thank you for your continued help and patience during this situation.
